Term 4
Term 4
The Prep team congratulates all students and parents for their resilience and persistence over the last term.
There were many sick children, and the cold weather certainly didn’t help. We look forward to warmer weather this term!
Mathematics
Mathematics during Term Four will see the children revising, consolidating and exploring various concepts and learning experiences. Topics will include:
Place Value, Counting, Sharing, Mass, Capacity and Graphing, as well as revision of learnt concepts throughout the year
Reading
This term, we will continue integrating phonics and letter/sound knowledge into our reading sessions. During our literacy block, the students will be engaged in several reading tasks that will assist them in reading independently. Please continue to reinforce this at home by ensuring children are reading each night and practising reading and writing their Oxford words. Our reading comprehension foci in Term Four will be Summarising, Problem/Solution, and Inferring.
Writing
As well as our Term Four text types being Narratives and Procedures, we will be continuing to revise the following during writing sessions:
Correct pencil grip
Letter formation with correct entry/exit points
Alphabet, including letter/sound knowledge
Punctuation
Editing
Integrated Studies
The students will study ‘Transport’ and the different modes of transport, including air, land, and sea. We will also study the history of transport and what it may look like in the future.
We thank you all for your cooperation and ongoing support this year. Let’s work together to help prepare our children for Grade One!
Things to remember:
Use your child’s assigned doors for morning drop-offs and afternoon pickups.
Send a drink bottle to school daily filled with water as the warmer weather approaches.
Check your child’s bag for notes and forms that may be given out during the day, as there will be more correspondence as the year progresses.
Contact the school or use Compass to record your child’s absence.
All students need their labelled hats, as Term Four is a “NO HAT, NO PLAY” term.
The Prep teachers appreciate your cooperation and help with all the above matters. 😊
